Braucht die Headbangerszene solche Nominierungen im Rockbusiness überhaupt? Ich denke, Miss-Wahlen sind zwar Glam, aber nicht Glam Rock und deshalb nur Boulevard-Presse würdig.
Aber toll sieht sie schon aus die Lzzy. Und sie erinnert mich an jemanden. ;-)


Blabbermouth is reporting that Halestormsinger Lzzy Hale has been named "The Hottest Chick in Hard Rock." Hale topped Revolver magazine’s annual poll, beating Evanescence’s Amy Lee and Pretty Reckless front woman Taylor Momsen to the top spot.

Hale offered the following comments on the survey:

"My view of it really is to make sure that you're good at what you do, and so that when people actually want to look beyond the centerfold [laughs, that you're actually good and you have something to back it up," she says. "I think that most of us are really trying to push the envelope and, you know, make sure that we're musicians first and that the sex is just kind of the icing on the cake."

Speaking to RockSource 360 back in July, Hale revealed some of the challenges involved in being a woman in rock:

"I think a lot of people don't realize the guts it takes to be a woman in rock... We have to carve out our own path, and make our own rules, because there are none. We have to go against everything society has told us we should be, embrace our power.... AND still hold on to our femininity somehow! By far my favorite role model is Pat Benatar."

Halestorm are currently on tour with Evanescene in support of their new album "The Strange Case Of...", which came out in April.

This Weeks Releases and Concerts (11.-17.6.2012)

Die Hard Rocker Drivin N Cryin bringen ihre 1. von 4 geplanten EP heraus. Die Nu-Metaller Spineshank sind mit ihrem 1. Album seit 9 Jahren am Start. Und die ältere Dame namens Fort, Lita Ford, beehrt uns mit ihrer neusten Rock Attacke. Wer auf coolen AOR/Hard Rock mti viel Abwechslung aus Schottland steht, sollte bei Gun reinhören. Die Metaller Manowar gehen neue Wege und veröffentlichen ihr neues Album momentan nur auf iTunes und ihrem eigenen Channel. Die physische Ware gibt's erst später. Die Snippets tönen aber schon mal super. Bin gespannt wie das ganze Album daherkommt. Leider wurde wohl die Zusammenarbeit mit Wolfgang Hohlbein und der Alsgard Saga über den Haufen geworfen, obwohl es schon einzelne Trailer davon gab.

Aus Live-Sicht bekriegen sich heute Montag Die Ärzte mit Evanescence um die Gunst der Rockfans. Das lange angekündigte Southern Rock Konzert findet nun endlich statt. Die Legende Lynyrd Skynyrd rocken leider nicht mehr mit Molly Hatchet (Europatour kurzfristig abgesagt) die Eulachhalle in Winti. Am Samstag ist Volken das Mekka für die Hard Rock Fans wenn Great White mit neuem Sänger zusammen mit Fox, den spanischen AC/DC-Inquistadores '77 und den Schweizer Hard Rockern Sideburn abrocken. Jetzt muss nur noch endlich der Sommer auch in der Schweiz ankommen. Aus schweizerischer Sicht gibt's auch viel Interessantes, allen voran die Plattentaufe von Tribal im Rock City Uster oder den Auftritt von Appearance of Nothing in der Galery Pratteln.

New York, NY — Wind-up Records confirmed today the label will release the new album from Evanescence on October 7, 2011. The band has also announced the return of guitar player Troy Mclawhorn. Following a three-year sabbatical, the band returned to the studio on April 11 to begin recording their third studio album. Evanescence is working with producer Nick Raskulinecz, whose recent producing credits include Foo Fighters, RUSH, Stone Sour, Deftones and Alice in Chains.

With what some call a meteoric rise to the top, Fallen brought the Little Rock, Arkansas band to global success with more than 17 million records in the hands of fans worldwide, two Top 10 singles, “My Immortal” and “Bring Me To Life,” two Grammy® Awards in 2003 (Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance for “Bring Me To Life”).

The Open Door was recorded in Los Angeles at The Record Plant in early 2006 and mixed at the venerable Ocean Way Studios in March 2006 and marked the return of long-time friend and producer Dave Fortman. The Open Door was certified double platinum in the United States and has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. The album was defined by Amy Lee’s beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, stunning vocals and poignant piano, merged with Terry Balsamo’s urgent, yet intricate guitar playing and formed a remarkable, ethereal blend perfectly rooted in the band’s rock and classical sensibilities, including the hit single “Call Me When You’re Sober.”

Operatika - The Calling

Operatika kommen aus New Jersey und machen Musik à là Evanescence, Nightwish oder Stratovarius. Das neuste Album heisst *The Calling*. Mal düster, aber meist klassisch führt uns Sängerin Slava Popova durchs Album. Musikalisch ist es eine tolle Scheibe und gesanglich eifert die Dame am Mikro der Tarja Turunen nach, ohne aber ihr Niveau zu erreichen. Und das sage ich, ich der überhaupt nicht auf dieses Genre des Rocks steht. ;-)

Stones

Nein nicht ein rollender Stein. 12 dieser Steine - sozusagen Hot Stones aus Louisiana - gemeint sind die 12 Stones.
Schon seit Jahren sind sie bei mir ein Geheimfavorit. Post-Grunge und /oder Alternative Rock vom Feinsten. Mal ein bischen härter, dann wieder ein wundervolle Ballade. Einfach genialer Rocksound. Die Musik ist in etwa vergleichbar mit den Bands Fuel, 3 Doors Down, Adema, Breaking Point oder Hinder. Ihre Texte sind allerdings eher christlich angehaucht, was nicht gerade mein Stil ist, aber die Songs sind dennoch wunderschön getextet. Beispiel gefällig: World So Cold (Virginia Tech Shooting Video, wo übrigens über 30 Menschen sterben mussten)

Der Frontmann Paul McCoy war auf *Bring Me To Life* mit der Band Evanescence (Amy Lee) auf dem Dare Devil Soundtrack (eine geile Scheibe mit super Sound im Fall) zu hören und machte so auf sich aufmerksam. Er gewann damit sogar einen Grammy.
Hier noch eine Liste mit anderen Songs in Filmen und Medien:

• "My Life" from their self-titled album was featured on the The Scorpion King soundtrack in 2002.
• "Home" (also from the self-titled album) was the song used for the WWE Desire video for Kurt Angle.
• The band recorded the song "Let Go" exclusively for the Daredevil movie soundtrack. (übrigens ein wundervolles Slow Stück)
  
• Songs "Running out of Pain" and "Back Up" were used on Cheating Death, Stealing Life - The Eddie Guerrero Story.
• "Shadows" from Potter's Field was used in a trailer for the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
• "Photograph" (also from Potter's Field) appeared on the Elektra movie soundtrack 2005.
